Awami League General Secretary Obaidul Quader today requested people not to create smokescreen over the killing of Gaibandha-1 lawmaker Manzurul Islam Liton.
“Please don’t create any smokescreen to put the killers out of sight. It doesn’t matter how powerful the killers are. We’ll ensure the trial during our tenure,” he said at a programme at Sundarganj in Gaibandha.
Quader, the minister for road transport and bridges, also vowed to find out the killers and bring them to book.

Gaibandha-1 constituency went vacant following the murder of Liton.
Talking over the by-polls in the constituency, he said, “Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina will nominate her party candidate according to the desire of the local people.”
Some leaders of different political parties including Awami League and Jatiya Party have started lobbying with their respective party high ups for nomination for the by-polls.
