Models are not dumb but beauties with brains: Manpreet Sekhon

1.What do you do for a living?

I m a freelance model. I get paid a decent amount that  enough to mange my expenses.

2. How would you describe your work?

Adventure….. In word I would say what I m doing today is a adventure for me. it’s like a dream come true. because as living in a small town I never thought of being a model, and never ever though of winning an international pageant.

 

3.What does your work entail?

It’s really fun and challenging at the same time. lots of traveling. odd working hours. no matter how tired one is. u must look fresh in pictures. looking glamourous takes a lot of effort.

4.What’s a typical work week like?

It’s never the same. but usually I m free on weekends.

5.How did you get started?

I did Bsc in Fashion Designing. During the final year I posted some of my pictures on facebook wearing my own designs. I was a approached by a local photographer on fb and asked if I would like to do modeling.

6.What do you like about your work?

I love the whole process involved, new dresses, jewelry, getting a new look and I also get to travel a lot for work. At the end of the day that one best picture is my reward and that’s the best part.

7.What do you dislike?

The working hours are sometimes litte odd and tiring, other than that I love everything about my profession.

8.How do you make money or how are you compensated?

I do a lot of shoots and events. All this provides enough money.

9.What skills are needed to do this?

Most important things that required is confidence, u need to have faith in yourself, u should be ready for all the hardwork and challenges and never let your self down if u r judged or criticized.

10.what is most challenging about your work?

I feel staying fit mentally and physically is very challenging and the most important thing is to face all the criticisms and appreciation and not get any of these affect u in a negative way.

11.what is most rewarding? 

Love of my fans, the lovely messages and compliments. It’s feels soo good when someone recognizes me in public.

12. What advice would you offer someone considering this career?

Just  be confident and be prepared for all the challenges. work hard and one day u will be rewarded.

12.How much time off do you get?

Its never scheduled sometimes I work for weeks together and sometimes free for days but yes I make sure I spend time with my family.

13.what else would you like people to know about your career?

It’s not as easy as everyone thinks a normal person will never understand the amount of hardwork and efforts that r put into getting one perfect picture it take as same effort to be a model or do some other job.

For other jobs people are interviewed by professionals ones for a job but we models are judged by everyone everyday is a challenge to be more perfect.

14.what is a common misconception people have about your work?

Most of the people in India specially think of modelling as a bad profession for some it’s a taboo people think that models are of bad character or easily available it’s a shame but reality of our society.

And people think models are dumb. So let me make it very clear no we models r not dumb. We are beauties, beauties with brains.
