Samia Nausheen: Social Activist, Young Entrepreneur and a Charming Politician

Samia Nausheen is a dynamic lady with a very strong family background.Graduated from North South University,she joined London College of Legal Studies (LCLS)-North as Director (Human Resources).She is in the board of Junior Chamber International (JCI) & also one of the key board members of Protigga Foundation.Samia Nausheen is also a member of the executive committee in Youth Bangla Cultural Forum.Her conversation with international reporter saif Rahman Sozib are as follows:

1.What do you do for a living?

I started my career in the South Korean embassy as their liaise officer, then I joined London College of Legal Studies as Director of marketing and I am still working there part time. In 2016 I started my construction company named Interface Construction Ltd and successfully running it currently..

2.How would you describe what you do?

Apart from my professional engagement I am active in politics too and along with that I have been working for social cause for the last 10 years. In the beginning days, I started with educating young children and also sponsoring them till they finish school. Alongside I started to educate illiterate young women in the villages on various aspects such as unwanted pregnancy, sanitation, children’s health and care including autism, domestic violence and very importantly women independence. So my work is the mixture of both professional and social work.

3.What does your work entail?

My work gives a lot of exposure both socially and economically. With my work life I get the exposure on the upper society of the country but also I get to know a lot of government officials, politicians, businesses community, a lot of artists and more importantly the poor people of our country which gives me immense pleasure as they see me one of their well wishers who could make some difference in their lives.

4.What’s a typical work week like?

Whenever I am in the country I work seven days a week. Apart from when I am sleeping I had to work all the time because I need to balance my professional with my social work and as well as my family life. It’s not necessary for a woman to sit in the office to get done with their task, they can from anywhere and they need to balance everything together.

5.How did you get started?

Right after I finished my university I started working professionally however once I got married, my social work started with the encouragement of my husband.

6.What do you like about your work?

I am very passionate about my work but the freedom I enjoy and the love of the people and also the attachment of people from various ranks of society get me going. I am also a political activist, I enjoy putting my thoughts into words and make it voice which can be heard.

7.What do you dislike?

The work occupies me so much that I get very little time to spend with my family and sometimes I feel guilty about it.

8.How do you make money or how are you compensated?

I make money from my professional work but happiness that in people’s eyes is enough to compensate the sacrifice I make. It makes me the happiest when I find the most precious smile on their lovely faces.

9.What skills are needed to do this?

Managing time and prioritizing the work with a big smile is the most important skill which I manage to do.

10.what is most challenging about what you do?

For me, the most challenging part of work is travelling alone and also with new initiatives the opposition I get from the village sardars. Also it is very challenging for me to involve women with my initiatives as they have to overcome the social barriers.
