Red card demonstration to JU VC demanding resignation

Jahangirnagar University (JU) teachers and students under the banner of ‘Jahangirnagar Against Corruption’ demonstrated red card to Vice-Chancellor prof Farzana Islam demanding her resignation.

Today (1 October) is the ultimatum date of VC’s resignation. Up to 70 students and teachers were present in the red card demonstration at 1 pm in the premises of Central Shaheed Minar amid entrance exam of 2019-20 session.

Rayhan Ryne, prof of philosophy  addressing the program, “we gave her(VC) ultimatum date of 1 October to resign with honor. But she did not. We are demonstrating  red card to VC and her family for corruption. Totally we are demonstrating red card to oppressor teacher and corrupted VC.” Demanding the resignation of VC today, he called for a comprehensive strike on 2-3 October. During the strike all adminstrative activities of University, class will be closed. Exam will be exempt from the program.

Anwarullah Vuiyan, prof of Philosophy said, “VC is failed to manage the University properly. We don’t want this failed, corrupted VC anymore.”

Rayhan Ryne prof of Philosophy, Anwarullah Vuiyan prof of Philosophy, Sayed Ferdous prof of Anthropology, Mirza Taslima Sultana prof of Anthropology, Jamaluddin Runu prof of Geological Sciences, members of JU cultural alliance, Student Union, Socialistic Student Front, Socialistic Student Front (Marxism) were present on the spot.

Mentionable that, on 18 September  in a declaration agitators demanded resignation of VC within 1 October  for managing money of 1.6 crore to political leaders from the fund of mega project of University development.
